Time to act on plastics, Aussies
12 December 2017
More than 200 countries are signing up to eliminate plastic pollution from the oceans, but what is Australia doing? Not much, according to Boomerang Alliance director Jeff Angel.
In NSW alone almost 90 per cent of consumers say litter is an important issue and in the first week of the NSW Container Deposit Scheme two million beverage containers were collected.
“We need to hear more from our federal government on how they plan to honour Australia’s pledge commitment to ‘step up actions to, by 2025, prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities,” Mr Angel said.
