  • Leadership from the big property owners – what are investors such as Mirvac, GPT and Frasers Property planning and doing now with all electric offices, apartments and other buildings?

Overview

This isn’t a challenge, this is a vast opportunity

Australians have in 2020 proved they are immensely resilient and innovative. We know we can manage great challenges as a community with common goals.

There is now growing resolve to use newfound strength to tackle the economic and environmental challenges before us in ways that are creative, productive and inclusive.

With our goal to create a net zero economy, there is rapid innovation and commitment from industry to fast track the evolution of low carbon all electric buildings and cities. But how?

The NSW government and other governments

The Hon Matt Kean, MP, Minister for Energy and Environment has released Net Zero Plan Stage 1: 2020–2030 to “fast-track emissions reduction over the next decade and prepare the state to take further action in the decades to follow.”

The plan recognises the need to scale up and fast track low emissions technologies and includes investment in “scientists, entrepreneurs and businesses to deliver the next wave of technologies, goods and services for our consumers, workforce and the environment.”

What are other jurisdictions doing to achieve these aims?

How can industry participate as an active partner with governments’ goals and strategies
